What is recovery mode?
As a fail safe, Arsenal boots into recovery mode if it has issues booting the primary software.
How do I know if Arsenal is in recovery mode?
If Arsenal is in recovery mode, both of the following will be true:
The device's blue LED bar remains illuminated indefinitely whenever Arsenal is powered on.
Arsenal creates a generic "arsenal" WiFi network instead of a unique network (e.g. arsenal-adjective-noun-number).
The type of WiFi network Arsenal creates is the key to determine whether your device is in recovery mode or simply installing a firmware update. The blue LED bar also stays lit when Arsenal is installing a firmware update, but only for 15-20 minutes.
Why is Arsenal in recovery mode?
Arsenal goes into recovery mode if it fails to boot the primary software three times in a row. The reasons for this can vary, but include things such as memory corruption or the firmware update getting interrupted before it has finished.
How to get Arsenal out of recovery mode?
It's possible you got into recovery mode accidentally. Try holding Arsenal's power button down for at least 8 seconds to reset the device. Then turn it back on and try to connect.
You can also try adding a new Arsenal on the connection screen (iOS only) or try manually connecting to Arsenal by selecting the Arsenal network in your phone’s WiFi settings. Use the password “arsenal1234” to connect to the Arsenal WiFi manually. Close and reopen the app and follow the instructions when prompted.
If those steps don't work, a firmware update may need to be performed if your Arsenal is in recovery mode.
Updating Firmware
For iOS users: Open the Arsenal app and select “ADD NEW ARSENAL”. Give the app permission to connect to the arsenal network. After connecting, the app will state "Firmware Update Required." Follow the normal firmware update process to reinstall the primary software.
For Android users: Open the Arsenal app and connect to the arsenal WiFi network. After connecting, the app will state "Firmware Update Required." Follow the normal firmware update process to reinstall the primary software.
If you are unable to reinstall the firmware from your phone, you can transfer the file from a Windows PC or Mac instead. Follow these instructions for updating Arsenal Firmware using a computer.
