Sony cameras require some one-time settings configuration to work well with Arsenal. These instructions vary by camera model. Below are the instructions for each Sony camera we support today.

Troubleshooting tips: if you receive an error when connecting, double-check that your camera is set to "USB Connection,” not "Mass Storage.” Also, make sure your camera is set to Aperture priority mode.

Instructions for Sony A7iii, A7Riii, Sony A6100, Sony A6400, and Sony A6600

Follow the steps in this video for A7iii, A7Riii, Sony A6100, A6400, and Sony A6600 cameras. You'll use the USB cable provided with your Arsenal for these cameras. For these cameras, you will want to plug the USB into your camera’s “multi” port.

Instructions for 1st and 2nd generation Sony Cameras

Follow these instructions for models A5000, A5100, A6000, A6300, A6500, A7, A7r, A7s, A7ii, A7Rii, A7Sii

Arsenal controls these Sony cameras via the "Sony PlayMemories Smart Remote" app over WiFi.

To configure this connection, follow the steps in this video:

Additional note: If you have two-factor authentication enabled on your Sony Entertainment, you'll need to disable this setting:

  • Go to the Account tab and select Security

  • In the 2-Step Verification section, select Edit next to Status and choose "Deactivate"

After the first time setup and connection, Arsenal will remember your camera's network name and password and connect as soon as it sees the network.

Reminder: You will need to start the Sony PlayMemories Smart Remote app on your camera each time you want to connect to Arsenal. Your camera should be set to Aperture Priority mode to make the initial connection.
