Once your phone and camera are connected to Arsenal, you’re ready to start shooting. By default, your app will open to the Smart Mode screen. Smart Mode uses Arsenal’s artificial intelligence to choose optimal settings for your shot.

Note: Shooting in Smart Mode requires a tripod or other stable surface. For handheld shooting, read Getting Started with Handheld Mode.

Get ready to shoot with Arsenal

Before shooting in Smart Mode, always make sure that:

  • Camera is powered on
  • Arsenal is powered on
  • Camera is connected via USB cable to Arsenal’s left port (unless you are using Arsenal with an A5000, A5100, A6000, A6300, A6500, A7, A7r, A7s, A7ii, A7Rii, A7Sii, which connect wirelessly).
  • Camera is set to Aperture Priority Mode

Enable Live View

Tap the Live View icon in the upper right corner of the app. A live preview from your camera will appear on screen.

Compose Your Shot

Move your camera and tripod to compose your shot. When getting started, we recommend placing a subject in the foreground so you can test Arsenal’s various features.

Tap to Focus

To select a focus point, simply tap on the Live View image. A target will show the point you selected, and turn green once focused.

To switch focus modes, tap the square focus icon in the upper right corner.

Trigger the Shutter

Press the shutter release button at the bottom of the screen to take a photo. Arsenal will trigger your camera’s shutter from up to 100 feet away.

Adjust advanced settings

To access advanced settings, click on the "Auto" icon in the lower left hand corner of the app. This will bring you into the menu to select, Exposure Bracketing, Focus Stacking, Long Exposure Stacking, and Off.

For more information on the Advanced Settings, please visit Getting Started with an Exposure Bracket, Getting Started with A Focus Stack, and Getting Started with a Long Exposure Stack.
